The Next Generation - The Aaron Gwin Story

Lululemon Elite Ambassador Aaron Gwin is no stranger to the top step of the podium, standing with a wide-spread grin across his face weekend after weekend, during the downhill mountain bike racing season. But what most fans don’t experience is who this World Cup winner truly is when he’s not riding a bike.

Chasing the Good with  JT Holmes

When you have an opportunity to spend 3 days in Squaw Valley with ski legend, JT Holmes, you go. No questions asked. No hesitation necessary. You just go. And you have a damn good time, too. Because when there's 18 feet of snow and you're drinking bourbon with one of the greatest athletes of our generation, there is literally no excuse not to.

We wanted to focus on JT's life in-between his epic adventures. As it turns out, they're just as amazing as the stunts he's so well known for.

The Run Dept.

Nike Running teamed up with AKQA and illustrator Greg Mike to develop Ready, Set, Go - an introduction to Nike+ Run Club's World of Running. The book includes a 10-step guide for beginner runners, and is full of other great details to get started. I worked with Nike Running and art director Matt Firman to concept a 10-post journey across their social channels to promote the book, wrote accompanying copy, helped set up and produce the shoot, and even modeled as our runner for the approved assets that were pushed across Nike Running's social channels, as well as Nike.com. This was an incredibly fun and challenging project.

Nike Run Dept // The Social Journey

We took the Ready, Set, Go Run Guide and we made it accessible to runners of all kinds. Here's the story of our social media journey.

Travel Oregon

As Travel Oregon's Outdoor Adventure Ambassador, I usually spent time replying to emails from strangers who are planning a trip or some sort of epic adventure in the area. I loved doing this. Because I love Oregon. And sharing that love for the crisp, fresh, mountain air, as well as fun, secret spots that are just waiting to be discovered is really, really fun.

From Bagby Hot Springs to the Clackamas whitewater to 5 gallon buckets and Misery Ridge. From high-flying fun above the Columbia to ice bucket challenging below Mt. Hood and waking up to epic sunrises along the ridge of the deepest lake in the United States, Oregon has more than enough adventures to soothe your wanderlusting soul. I love showing people the 7 wonders of Oregon and the unbelievable bounty that lies between them.

From day-to-day adventures, epic climbs, thundering waterfalls, alpenglowing lakes, sunset hikes and long walks on the beach, #AskOR  let me help plan everything from picnics to week-long vacations.

And sometimes, the folks at HQ let me go on adventures while giving me their Instagram password. Here are a few examples of the engagement those takeovers have created.

Nike OutDo You Campaign // Winter 2014-15

The Nike Outdo You campaign was launched on January 5, 2015 and inspired people everywhere to outdo themselves in 2014.

As a freelancer, I can't take credit for the conceptualization of this project. I came in to write the social copy, email campaign, guidelines, and to pitch the project to our client.

The top 100,000 Nike+ users in 2014 received unique illustrated videos of their personal years in review. New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Chicago also received city videos and email pages that depicted their Nike+ user generated data and received community-based videos that depicted each city's collaborated Nike+ data for 2014.

Nike+ data was taken from NikeFuel, Nike+ Running App, and Nike+ Training Club minutes.

Across all social platforms, we encouraged Nike athletes* to outdo 2014 with new workouts within Nike+ Training Club, the Nike+ Running App and to rack up their NikeFuel for 2015.

Nike Women's Marathon

Welcome to the Race Hub.

This inclusive smartphone app for accepted entries to the 2014 Nike Women's Half Marathon includes helpful information regarding everything from training to lacing up at the start line.

The coach tool allows runners to set a goal for the race and then motivates and helps them train for their best 13.1 yet. By downloading the app onto their phones, runners are given inside information about Gear, Start Line, Expo, Transportation, Course Map, Runner Tracking, and the Finish Line.
